Ancient Coin Collection

Ancient Coins are like time capsules, transporting us through time and space. Thousands of years old, these miniature masterpieces tell us stories about the past. Rediscovered centuries or millennia later, they have a second life, as part of the great public and private collections, frequently travelling the globe. ACC (Ancient Coin Collection) provides a window into these worlds.

Annabel Schooling

Annabel Schooling is a Junior Numismatist at Numismatica Ars Classica. Having studied Ancient History at King’s College London, she is a proud nerd who spends much of her time reading about all things Greek and Roman (currently deep into a book on the much-maligned women of the Roman imperial court). Before joining NAC, Annabel worked in the editorial department at the numismatic auction house Spink & Son, where she met Tim, and has since been involved in research and publishing across public and private projects, from Sir Mark Jones’s William Wyon catalogue to documentation work at the British Museum.

Tim Wright

Tim Wright has a passion for ancient coins, and is on a mission to share that with others through writing and speaking on the subject.

His first book, British Celtic Coins: Art or Imitation? was published by Spink's in 2023 and received the Lhotka Prize from the RNS (Royal Numismatic Society) in 2025. Tim's most recent book, Travels with the Naxos Masterpiece was published in 2025, and provides an introduction to Ancient Greek coins through one of its most famous coins.

Dr Wright has contributed numerous articles to publications including the ANS (American Numismatic Society) Magazine, the Spink Auction Insider, Coin News and CoinsWeekly. Tim has also contributed to the blogs of BnF (Bibliotheque national de France) and HBM (Historisches Museum Basel), and given lectures at the Hunterian, Glasgow University and Ashmolean, Oxford University.
